Hello world!

hey fren. we made it.

Listen… this site has been a long time coming. Like, a long time coming. There’s been crashing, cussing, crying, restarting, overthinking, and a few too many snacks eaten at 2 a.m. between “activate plugin” and “publish.” But she’s here. We’re here. And that counts for something.

If you’re new here — hi, I’m DeMetria. I’m a mom, a creative, a healing coach, a storyteller, and a woman who’s tired but still showing up anyway. I’ve built, broken, and rebuilt so many versions of myself I could probably get a degree in “starting over.” But this right here? This feels like home.

The universe, sheer audacity, and my refusal to fold tag-teamed to get me to this point. Because life has not been gentle. There were seasons that stripped me clean, lessons that nearly took me out, and whole chapters that tried to convince me I didn’t deserve good things. And yet — somehow — I do. We all do.

This space holds everything I’ve been building behind the scenes.
🖤 Rooted AF — our loungewear line for real bodies and real healing. It’s comfort with intention. Stay tuned for updates on her official release date.
🤎 A Black Girl Wrote This — my writing, my thoughts, my messy middle. That’s where the stories live. Substack saw it first.
💚 The Black Girls Collective — the community work, the movement, the healing in action. A nonprofit near and dear to my heart. I’m so excited to bring her to fruition.

And because I clearly don’t believe in rest — we just opened preorders for my debut novel, He Married the Side Chick. It’s raw, layered, and deeply human — a story about love, betrayal, and choosing yourself even when it breaks you. You can preorder it right here.

On top of that, we just launched our Kickstarter for Be Good If You Can, the children’s book inspired by my grandpa and co-created with my kids. It’s a love letter to kindness, legacy, and doing good wherever you can. If you want to help us bring it to life, you can check it out here.

All of this — every word, every product, every brand — is a product of survival meeting purpose. It’s what happens when you finally stop apologizing for outgrowing versions of yourself that were never meant to last.

People love to say, “You don’t look like what you’ve been through.”
And they’re right. I look like lessons. I look like rest I had to earn. I look like a woman who chose peace over performance and still made it out shining.

So yeah, welcome to the chaos and the calm. Welcome to my corner of the internet.
Take your shoes off, grab a cup, and stay awhile — I think you’ll feel seen here.

Keep becoming. Stay grounded. Be good if you can. 😉

🤎
